FAQ

How do you get Resonance Points?
During Hero Action planning, route the active character through the line between the other two party members. A blue path means you will gain one Resonance Point when the run completes.
How many Resonance Points do I need for Tri-Attack?
You need at least one stored point to open Tri-Attack mode. Additional points increase how many laps the triangle run completes.
What does Tri-Attack cost?
Tri-Attack spends one Bezel from the Hero Gauge, the same as a single Hero Action, but it activates all three characters in sequence.
Do enemies have to stand inside the triangle?
No. The triangle is formed by hunter positions, not enemy placement. You still pick targets while the trio runs.
Why did my Resonance Points disappear?
The Tri-Attack tutorial warns that any action other than earning a new Resonance Point can drop stored points. Chain blue Hero Action paths, then spend them on Tri-Attack before normal moves.
Can I change who runs first in Tri-Attack?
Yes. After you open Tri-Attack, pick the starting hunter and running direction before confirming, similar to a single Hero Action.

Tri-Attack is the team-wide Hero Action: three hunters loop a triangle while you swap targets and fire on the move. It looks flashy, but the real requirement is banked Resonance Points from earlier blue paths. Start with /guides/hero-action-guide/ if Hero Actions still feel unfamiliar.

What are Resonance Points?

Resonance Points are the counter above the party list (shown as “X Resonance” in tutorials). You earn them exclusively through Hero Action routing:

  1. Enter Hero Action mode with the active character.
  2. Draw a path that passes between the other two hunters.
  3. Confirm the run. The path preview glows blue when the crossing is valid.
  4. When the run ends, gain +1 Resonance Point.

The Tri-Attack tutorial states that any other action removes one or more stored Resonance Points. Plan blue Hero Action paths back-to-back, then open Tri-Attack before someone takes a normal move or standing shot.

How do I perform a Tri-Attack?

  1. Bank at least one Resonance Point using the steps above.
  2. Open Tri-Attack mode with Triangle once Resonance is banked (Combat 6 / GameFAQs threetimes; PC shows the same prompt).
  3. Review the triangle connecting all three hunter positions. Hunter placement defines the shape; threetimes’ FAQ adds that enemies caught inside the triangle during the run cannot move or turn.
  4. Choose starting hunter and clockwise or counter-clockwise order.
  5. Confirm to spend one Bezel and launch the synchronized run.
  6. During the loop, switch targets and fire whenever charge rings complete—same as a solo Hero Action.
  7. While the trio runs: X to attack, Square to jump, Circle to stop that hunter (Tri-Attack tutorial controls). Jumps still commit until landing.

Each extra Resonance Point adds another lap around the triangle, which means more charge windows and scratch/direct conversions. Wikipedia’s tri-Attack Battle system description matches this “more points = more laps” behavior.

What mistakes block Tri-Attacks?

Mistake Fix
Hunters clumped on one side Spread out before fights so blue paths exist
Spending Bezels on solo runs right before Tri-Attack Keep one Bezel and at least one Resonance banked
Normal attack between blue paths Points reset—go Hero Action → Hero Action → Tri-Attack
Starting Tri-Attack at zero Bezels Refill via gauge breaks or shard pickups first

How does Tri-Attack interact with damage types?

Tri-Attack does not change weapon rules. Machine guns still scratch, handguns still deal direct damage and convert scratch. A common opener is:

  1. Scratch with SMGs during the first lap.
  2. Swap targets to a handgun hunter for detonation on the second lap.
  3. Use jumps to break shield segments that block ground lines.

See /guides/scratch-damage-vs-direct-damage/ for color coding and /weapons/best-gun-setup/ for who carries which gun.

When should I Tri-Attack instead of solo Hero Actions?

  • Multiple targets scratched and you need every hunter firing in one turn.
  • Big enemies with many shield segments—extra laps apply spread shots and gauge breaks.
  • Finishers before scratch HP regenerates (scratch recovery is time-based per the Combat 3 tutorial).

What if a hunter hits a wall mid Tri-Attack?

Erickdesu’s Steam guide notes that if one runner collides with a large enemy or wall, that character stops while the other two continue the triangle. You can still swap targets on the remaining hunters, but plan wider triangles in cramped rooms so the lap is not cut short.

For the whole combat loop, return to /guides/battle-system-explained/. Bezel costs and Critical Condition are covered in /guides/bezels-and-bezel-shards/.
